DMT Dimension
Contextualization
Visual Arts
My favorite part, visual arts, is supposed to represent what it would be like to step into this dimension/realm of DMT. I did a big collage painting of all things psychedelic, intertwined. The elements are somewhat random, but they all have significance to what a trip is like. My thought process of this was basically 'all things trippy'. I grabbed inspiration from books and movies like Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom to Alice in Wonderland, places like Pinterest, and artwork from other artists. Everything is random, but all has a purpose as to why it's there. There's people, snakes, UNO cards, aliens, shrooms, etc..
English
The english part of my project is what started out as a collection of thoughts, and I turned it into a stream of consciousness journal. Basically, over the course of 2-3 weeks, every time I felt there was a genuine thought eating away at me, I would write it down. The entries are all straight up, mistakes and all. The few pictures that are throughout the journal, are from dreams I had without context. What I did with all these papers of writing was I put them into scrapbooking sleeves, or glued and laminated them to cardstock paper, and then I strung them all together so you could flip through them like a book in chronological order.
Civics
For the civics portion of this project, I researched and formatted the history, laws, and pros and cons of psychedelics. I put all of if into the infographic shown below.

I knew of the D.A.R.E program a little bit before, but it wasn’t until Mr. Wimmer
mentioned looking into it that I actually sat down and read about it. It’s significant to my
project because around the time that this program was created and put into action, was
when psychedelics and other drugs were really getting recognized and affecting the
community. This program was designed to educate young students about the dangers of
the drugs in the outside world, but this ended up backfiring and just fueling their
curiosity.

Birthday.” Artnet News, 9 July 2017, https://news.artnet.com/art-world/david-hockney-80th-birthday-1017002.
This link was helpful because it layed out all of David Hockney’s work in a gallery format. I don’t really like all of his artwork as a whole except for the abstract inanimate object pattern, but I like that his paintings don’t make sense right away. They leave room for judgement and imagination. Some of the other sites I looked at also gave some background on his personal life and thought process which gives into the admiration of his work.
Joe. “Peter Max.” Park West Gallery, Park West Gallery, 30 July 2019,
https://www.parkwestgallery.com/artist/peter-max/.
I have seen and admired a ton of Peter Max’ artwork in the past without even realizing it. I liked that this site put his artwork into gallery format so I could see the similarities and differences. I chose this artist for his choice of colors and settings, which hopefully I can recreate. His art reminds of pop art, which I love, and has a touch of magical realism of things deterioration and reflection. What I mean by that is, I noticed that a good number of his art, or art inspired by, were things reflecting into the water as something different than they appeared above the surface.
“Karl Ferris Archives - ROCK STAR GalleryROCK STAR Gallery.” ROCK STAR Gallery,
http://rockstargallery.net/fine-photography/photographer/karl-ferris/.
I found this artist, and specifically this link, intriguing because Karl Ferris instead of making a painting like most others, he but psychedelia into photography. I’ve always loved the aspect of the saturation in his photos, also the fact that he produced Jimi Hendrix album covers, whom I am a fan of. The collection of photos I took a look at have a very original distortion of that, what we would in the 21st century, refer to as a fish-eye lense effect. This wasn’t all that common in that decade, and it doesn’t occur in all of his products, but definitely deserves some recognition.
Nolo. “Drug Laws and Drug Crimes.” Www.nolo.com, Nolo, 18 Mar. 2014,
https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/drug-laws-drug-crimes-32252.html.
This website was perfect for what I needed to know about the laws and charges for illegal
substances in general. It directly compares federal, state, and local laws for possession vs.
trafficking. Even though I planned on focusing more towards illicit drugs themselves, I
still need the basic information.

The writers that are featured in this link, used their stream of consciousness differently than I did. Instead of writing about something on their mind, like a feeling or opinion, they used it to tell more of a story. Some of them wrote in the context of trying to bring you into a childhood memory or about a subject using facts. I liked reading these because it helped me think of this type of writing in a different way than the way that I’m using it.
