Women's Rights
Synthesis
Visual Arts
For art, to show synthesis, I combined different artists technique, color palette, and art piece into one. I chose the piece "Girl With Tear" by Roy Lichtenstein to recreate with Van Gogh's painting technique and Peter Max's color palette which I then muted to better fit the aesthetic. I started with one piece, then did another one, until I was happy with my 3rd piece as the final product to turn in.
English
Sort of separate from my project, as a Junior, I was prompted to write my college research essay for my 4th project. I've decided, as of now, that I want to go to school in California. My essay breaks down the important differences between San Diego State University (SDSU), Pepperdine University, and California State University of Fullerton (CSUF).
Civics
As my civics portion, I researched and put into context the basic history of women's rights and what feminists in the 1920's went through as activists. I then researched all of our modern abortion laws to predict how different things would be if what is happening now, had happened at the same time as everything else. I ended up writing a crossover historical fiction fable. 2 of the most popular superheroes from the 1970's are The Amazing Spider Man and Wonder Woman, and they still are today. So, my fable makes it seem as if they wouldn't be relevant anymore without female activists, see for yourself.

I personally have a lot of interest in Peter Max outside of my project which made this video even better to watch. It went through what inspires him and how much of an icon he was in the 70s, only dipping into the way he chooses to use his color pallette. It gave me good insight to understand why he chooses the colors he does, and I hope to give them just as much life with my piece.

This website was very helpful because it layed out multiple techniques that I could choose from. I initially found Van Gogh’s painting technique on this website, which then inspired me to keep looking more into it. The grammar was easy to understand and in some cases, even told you what materials to use.
